The International Coronelli Society for the Study of Globes is a charitable association that deals with the globe as a specific cartographical form of expression, with its history and its position in a socio-cultural context. Founded in Vienna in 1952, it is one of the oldest societies in the world dealing with the history of cartography and the only one dedicated solely to the globe. The International Coronelli Society has organised fourteen scientific symposia up to now. It has been publishing the only scientific journal for the study of globes for more than 70 years under the title “Der Globusfreund” (since 2000 also available in the English version “Globe Studies”).
